The Vision

THE FORT KING HISTORIC LANDMARK IS A LIVING HISTORY SITE that tells the story for future generations of the important cultural, historic and natural resources found at the site of the fort.  The reconstruction of the fort complex and the construction of of the museum and education center will present a balanced and rigorous interpretation of the Seminole War history that took place on these grounds; it will also ensure that local history is placed in the context of the greater Seminole Wars of Florida and is presented in a manner that is respectful to all that were involved in these conflicts.

The Completed Fort King Historic Landmark

After successful implementation of the Master Plan, Marion County will have the world’s most important interpretive heritage-tourism site dedicated to the Seminole Wars.  The Fort King National Historic Landmark will provide students and public visitors alike with the tools they need to understand the complexities of the conflicts and the challenges of an infant nation.

The economic impact will be substantial!

Implementing the Fort King Vision

To implement the $15M master plan, it is necessary for the Fort King Heritage Foundation to develop a continual source of operating income.  A key component of which is membership, particularly by local businesses becoming Foundation members.

Your company’s membership will help to build a Living History Site that will—

 

  • Promote heritage tourism creating a substantial economic impact for Ocala and Marion County
  • Be the world’s most important interpretive heritage-tourism site dedicated to the Seminole Wars.
  • Be the leading resource on the Seminole Wars for scholars, researchers and students.
  • Educate and inform the public of the important cultural, historic, and natural resources found at the park.
  • Protect the park’s cultural and natural resources for future generations.
  • Present a balanced and rigorous interpretation of the history of Seminole Wars.
  • Ensure that the local history is placed in the context of the greater Seminole Wars of Florida.
  • Guarantee the history of the Seminole Wars are presented in a manner that is respectful to all that were involved in these conflicts.
  • Will present a living demonstration of life in a location where settlers, native Americans and soldiers came together.

Business Memberships

By joining the Fort King Heritage Foundation, your company will play a part in bringing the Fort King vision to fruition.  In return, the Foundation will ensure our community recognizes your contribution to this historic undertaking. 

We will do so:

  • By listing your company’s membership in the Foundation’s monthly newsletter
  • By recognizing your company’s membership on a sign located within the Fort King Visitors Center
  • By providing a framed certificate of membership to Supporter and Patron members and a plaque, which can be wall mounted, to Sustainer and Benefactor members
  • By recognizing your company’s membership on a sign located in the Fort King Heritage Foundation’s tent at the Fort King Festival

Membership Levels – Amounts are per year with a 3 year commitment:

  • Supporter – $500.00 per year
  • Patron – $1,000.00 per year
  • Sustainer – $2,000.00 per year
  • Benefactor – $2,500.00 per year

The Fort King Heritage Foundation is a fully qualified 501(c)(3) organization. Contributions to the Fort King Heritage Foundation are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. To claim a donation as deduction on your U.S. taxes, please keep your email donation receipt as your official record.
