Forgotten Figures: Uncovering the Stories of Florida’s Seminole Agents

Professor of Project Management and Organizational Leadership

Often overlooked in traditional narratives of the Seminole Wars, the Indian Agents played a crucial role. This presentation brings to light the individual stories of these men, examining their backgrounds, motivations, and the challenges they faced in navigating the complex landscape of 19th-century Florida.

Presenter Bio:

Dr. Deklinski is an 11-year corporate faculty member at Harrisburg University of Science and Technology specializing in project and risk management, procurement, agile lean transformational leadership, and organizational leadership and emotional intelligence. Joe has also been a student of change management and innovation for many years. He has spent 35 years working within PA state government and 15 of those years working with state agencies to create positive change.

Joe holds a Doctor of Business Administration with a concentration in Organizational Leadership from Northcentral University, a Master of Public Administration from Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania, and a Bachelor of Science degree from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Deklinski is a member of Delta Mu Delta the International Honor Society in Business and a certified emotional intelligence coach.

Joe is an avid student of history. He is a volunteer and re-enactor at Fort King National Historic Landmark and a member of the Fort King Heritage Foundation and the Florida Historical Society.

He and his wife Karen reside in Ocala, Florida along with their Labradoodle. They have two grown children and two grandchildren.
