Scouting the Skies: The Birds of Fort King

Learn about the Birds of Fort King! From migratory warblers to resident owls, the diversity of avian life here is spectacular. With a mix of open grass around the Fort and the dense forest surrounding it, this National Landmark is one of Marion County’s historic and natural gems. It provides excellent opportunities to view some of our feathered friends.

Presenter Bio:

Maxfield Weakley, Vice President of the Marion Audubon Society, is an avid birder and wildlife photographer. Before graduating from the University of Central Florida with a BS in Biology, he helped found the UCF Knighthawk Audubon Campus Chapter as the photography chairman. He has led several walks for Orange Audubon Society’s North Shore Birding Festival, and numerous private and public birding walks around Central Florida. Now, he shares his knowledge and passion for wild birds through his website, MaxBirdFacts.com.
